Domestic Trains
If you experience a delay of more than 60 minutes during your train journey, you have the right to seek compensation directly from the train company you traveled with.
If the delay/canceled departure caused you to miss a connection, the train operator responsible for the delay is responsible for helping you. As a traveler, you have the right to get help rebooking to a later departure at no extra cost or, if you choose not to travel, apply for a refund.
For Resplus tickets, where multiple operators are involved, you should contact the operator that caused the problem for a refund or submit this form.
If your trip only involves one train operator and you choose not to travel, we can help you apply for compensation. We will then contact the operator on your behalf, and if they approve, process a refund to you via Klarna. However, it is important to note that booking fees are not refunded.
International Trains
For delays or canceled trains resulting in missed connections, we recommend seeking assistance at the ticket office or travel center at the train station. In Europe, there is a collaboration called AJC (Agreement on Journey Continuation) that many major train operators are part of. Through this agreement, travelers can get help continuing their journey to their final destination in case of delays or canceled trains. We advise you to ask the train staff for a delay certificate, which can help with assistance via AJC and in case of complaints.
For those traveling with an Interrail Pass, there are good opportunities to continue the journey with the next train, as the Interrail Pass serves as a travel ticket. However, it is important to remember that some trains require seat reservations, and a new seat ticket may be needed.
EU legislation gives train travelers certain rights, such as refunds or the right to continue to the final destination free of charge in the event of canceled trains. These rights apply per transport contract, and for international travel, each ticket is usually considered a separate contract, making it difficult to claim compensation for missed connecting trains.
If there is a need to make a complaint afterward, it is important to save all tickets and certificates. Then contact us with a detailed description of the event. The easiest way to do this is by filling out our complaint form.
